Notes on things I keep coming back to.

On keeping a paper notebook

September

I tried every app for a decade and ended up with a cheap A5 notebook and a pencil. Nothing syncs, nothing updates, nothing asks me to log in. The pages fill up slowly, and that slowness turns out to be the point.

Sourdough, attempt four

August

The starter finally doubles in six hours. The crumb is still tighter than I want, which probably means I am underproofing out of impatience. Next time: one more hour on the counter, and trust the poke test.

A short walk, repeated

July

Same loop every evening, forty minutes, no headphones. After a month the route is boring and the walk is not. I notice which trees lose leaves first and which neighbours leave their porch light on.
